Day 14- Seeing Some Changes
Today we can see that our chrysalis is showing signs of change. There are some lines on the outside that appear to be from the wings that are folded inside.
Indiana Posters
Today we worked in groups and made Indiana posters. Tomorrow is our Mystery State Skype and we want to make sure we can answer questions about our own state!

Day 8....We have a chrysalis!!!
I really hope that some of the students watched the live butterfly cam last night at home. Parker and I watched at home and were able to see the caterpillar turn into the chrysalis. I'm telling you that it was the COOLEST thing EVER!!!! Keep watching (the link for the webcam is on this blog) as we wait for our butterfly to emerge!!!!

Skyping and Caterpillars OH MY!
We had an EXCITING day today! I *finally* found a monarch caterpillar on my milkweed at home. Today we started slide presentation about the caterpillar. We are going to add a slide daily to keep track of its progress and changes!
We also had a special guest reader today via Skype! Mr. Clauss our district technology/test coordinator read a book to our class and gave us a tour of central office in Petersburg.

Google Slide Shows
Friday we finished our Google slide shows! Everyone did a great job. I can tell that we learned lots of facts about deserts during the week. Some students took it a step further by using the Bundle that I created and researching on the net! To see your child's presentation, click on the Kidblog link and find your child's post. Enjoy!

Two New Projects
Saying that today was a busy day is an understatement! We started 2 new projects. The picture above is a quick pic that I snapped of one of our literacy stations today. The students did their first podcasting today!!! This is an excellent way for them to practice fluency. You can see their reactions in the picture to hearing themselves. :) We will be working on this in stations the rest of the week and I will try to post them on the blog when we are finished. Today we began learning about deserts. Our story this week is A Walk in the Desert. The students wrote down facts on post it notes and we began working on a Google slide presentation! This was quite the chore to learn but give them 2 or 3 times of working in it and they will be pros. We also blogged this morning, took AR tests, learned about inflectional endings (ask your child to tell you the rules for adding endings), read in our reading groups, practiced inflectional ending words, listened to A Walk in the Desert, played an interactive game called Fish em up! on inflectional endings, learned about declarative and interrogative statements, and practiced our spelling words by movement on a cool site called Go Noodle!
